THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fronts face a major setback in the strongholds of prominent people in the local body elections. The LDF could only secure third place in Minister Saji Cherian's constituency. The UDF won in Minister V N Vasavan's constituency. The BJP won in the ward of former Devaswom Board president, CPM leader and former MLA A Padmakumar.

The NDA seized power in the panchayat of CPM Thiruvananthapuram district secretary V Joy MLA. The UDF won in the panchayat of P V Anvar. In North Paravur, the BJP candidate won in the ward of opposition leader V D Satheesan. The LDF won in Rahul Mamkootathil’s ward. The LDF won in the ward of K C Venugopal in Alappuzha. The LDF could not win in the ward of CPM leader and former minister Kadakampally Surendran either.

Meantime, with the results of the local body elections coming, the UDF is making waves in Kerala, shocking Kerala. The UDF is leading everywhere, including in grama panchayats. The UDF is leading in four out of six corporations. UDF is also leading in the grama panchayat, block panchayat and district panchayat. This is the first time since 2010 that UDF has achieved such a historic advance. This is indicating that the political history of the state is being rewritten.
