THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state secretariat has directed the CPM Pathanamthitta district committee to investigate who leaked the controversial part of Saji Cheriyan's speech in Mallapally. The controversial part insulting the constitution led to his resignation.

Saji Cheriyan criticised constituition after explaining about the labor exploitation in the country. There is a self-critical assessment that even the CPM is not doing much to prevent this. The CPM is arguing that the interested parties within the party tried to create controversy by spreading the part that criticized the party. First there was a news in an online media with the headline 'Minister Saji Cheriyan criticizing CPM'. But when another media reported the same part later, the controversial remarks against the constitution were highlighted.

Saji Cheriyan,a native of Chengannur and the district secretary of CPM in Alappuzha has a strong hold in Pathanamthitta. Cheriyan supported Pinarayi faction during V S- Pinarayi rift. V S Achuthanandan faction still have an influence in Mallappally. The question arises as to whether its resonance and some indifferences within the CPM on Saji Cheriyan's position was behind the leak.
