THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has warned that the rains will intensify in the state. Orange alert has been announced in two districts and yellow alert in eight districts. Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts are on orange alert. A chance of heavy rain is indicated. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam. Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram are on yellow alert.
Orange alert has been issued for Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur tomorrow. The Central Meteorological Department has advised not to go fishing in Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts today and tomorrow as heavy rain is predicted.
Cyclone 'Dana' has intensified into a cyclonic storm over northwest Bay of Bengal. It is likely to make landfall over Odisha-West Bengal coast between Puri and Sagar Island with a maximum speed of 120 kmph tonight or early tomorrow morning.
Cyclonic circulation is located over the south-eastern Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep. Due to these reasons, there is a warning that there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning in Kerala for the next week. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that very heavy rains are possible at isolated places today and tomorrow and heavy rains from October 24 to 27.
