Cyclone Ditwah survivors stranded in Sri Lanka brought to Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 270 Malayalis stranded in Sri Lanka due to floods caused by Cyclone Ditwah have been brought to Thiruvananthapuram. They were brought to Thiruvananthapuram from Colombo in a special Indian Air Force flight. NORKA Roots representatives received them at the airport and provided them with necessary assistance. NORKA has arranged two buses from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam for the passengers to return home. Another group of 80 people will reach Thiruvananthapuram by a flight at 12.45 am.

Several Indian nationals have been stranded in Sri Lanka due to flash floods. The Indian High Commission has set up an emergency helpline at the Colombo International Airport to provide them with assistance. The death toll in Sri Lanka from the floods and landslides caused by Cyclone Ditwah has risen to at least 334 people, with nearly 400 individuals still missing as of Sunday, November 30, 2025.
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake declared a nationwide state of emergency to expedite rescue operations and coordinate the distribution of financial assistance.
