PALAKKAD: The Secretary of the Palakkad Municipality has said that the damage caused by the crowd at rapper Vedan's event amounted to Rs 1,75,552. A complaint has been filed with the Scheduled Caste Development Department, the organisers of the event, demanding payment of this money. The complaint also states that the seats and waste bins at the Kota Maidanam were destroyed. A complaint has also been filed with the Palakkad South Police citing this.
Entry to Vedan's concert at Kota Maidanam had been closed due to a huge crowd. A few days ago, the program in Thiruvananthapuram's Kilimanoor was also cancelled. The musical program titled 'Moonnam Varavu' was held at an open stage set up at the Cheriya Kota Maidanam. It was announced that the program, organised by the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Department and the Culture Department as part of the government's annual celebration, would begin at 6 pm.
However, Vedan reached the stage only at 7:30. Meanwhile, the program was disrupted for a while due to the crowd. Vedan himself came forward to pacify the troublemakers, but he could not sing until 8:45. Although he sang more than five songs, he had to stop singing when the crowd got out of control. This was the first time Vedan had come to Palakkad after the controversies surrounding the ganja and tiger tooth cases.
