THRISSUR: The Peramangalam police registered a case against BJP leader Printu Mahadev, who issued a death threat against Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi during a regional channel debate. The action was taken on a complaint filed by KSU district president Gokul Guruvayur. A case was registered against Printu Mahadev under the sections of murderous speech, incitement to riots and spreading hatred in society. Printu was the former state president of ABVP.
“In the Indian state, the people are with the Narendra Modi government. So if Rahul Gandhi comes out with such a desire to create unrest similar to what was seen in Bangladesh or Nepal, he will be shot in the chest. There is no doubt about it.” This was the remark made by Printu Mahadev during the television channel debate.
The Congress, led by block committees, staged a protest against BJP in the incident. The police used water cannons during the march to Printu Mahadev's house. AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal had written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the incident. The letter demanded action against Printu Mahadev.
