KOTHAMANGALAM: More details have emerged in the death of Nandana (19), a first-year BBA student at Indira Gandhi College, Nellikuzhi. Nandana, who was very active on social media, had deleted all her posts on Instagram before her death. The police took Nandana's mobile phone into custody and concluded it was a case of suicide.

Nandana, daughter of Hari and Siji couple from Mankulam, Veliyampara, Idukki, was found hanging in the hostel near the campus on Sunday. Nandana was alone in the room on Saturday night. The other students had gone home as they were on study leave. The body was found when a friend returned yesterday morning and looked through the window.

After the relatives arrived, the body was taken down. It was handed over to the relatives in the evening after the postmortem at Kalamassery Medical College Hospital. There were no other clues in the postmortem. No suicide note was found either. Inspector P.T. Bejoy said that further investigation will be conducted.

Nandana’s father raised suspicion about the death and demanded a thorough investigation. She was found hanging with her legs touching the floor. Moreover, the family said there was no real reason for Nandana to commit suicide. Even during the last phone conversation with family, Nandana was cheerful.

Principal Dr Viji Ramakrishnan said Nandana seemed to have no real reasons to commit suicide. There were no fee arrears. Nandana had been staying in the hostel since she joined the college four months ago.
