WASHINGTON: The US forces destroyed 16 miner layers that were setting up mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The US Central Command has also released a video of the destruction of the Iranian ships on its X page. US President Donald Trump had earlier warned Iran to immediately remove all mines placed in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump reiterated that there would be serious military consequences if the mines were not removed. The Iranian ships were subsequently destroyed. On March 10, the US Central Command announced that 16 minelayers and several Iranian naval vessels were destroyed near the Strait of Hormuz.

Meantime, Trump threatened to strike Iran 20 times more than previous attacks if oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz are blocked, and Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said he would not live in peace. Addressing Republican lawmakers at a golf club in Miami, Trump said the war would end very quickly. However, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that the length of the war was not determined by the US, but by Iran, and that the future of the region was now in the hands of the Iranian military.
