The first mothership arriving at Vizhinjam right?

Vizhinjam International Port is ready to be presented to the world. The San Fernando ship of Maersk company, which is carrying more than 2000 containers from Xiamen port in China, will arrive at Vizhinjam port on the 11th morning. Communication with the ship shall commence from the time the ship is anchored in the deep sea of ​​the port. The pilot vessel will then escort the mothership and bring it to our port. The ship will be here for 30 hours. A semi-automatic crane will lift the goods. A trailer truck will take them to the yard. The mothership from China will have cargo to deliver to India and nearby countries. Small ships from the respective countries would come to Vizhinjam and leave with the goods they need. The inauguration is on 12th. Feeder ship is also coming soon.

Can the port be commissioned by Onam?

The construction of the first phase of the project is nearing its final stage. 31 cranes have already arrived. Construction of 2960 meters of breakwater has been completed. 800 meters of container berth have been constructed. The ships are going to anchor next to it. 400-meter berth is operational. The software system and control room are all ready. A trial run is now being conducted to streamline operations. The first stage port can be commissioned by Onam. In the long term, up to five mother ships can work together in the port. If all the approvals are received, the construction of the second phase will begin by December. According to the agreement, the capacity of the port is expected to be fully utilized by 2045. However, the effort is to make it earlier.

Will the public have a chance to see the ship?

Just like an airport, it is a place where security needs to be ensured. Huge and complex machines are involved. The public will be able to see the ship and cranes up close during the opening on the 12th. It's just that the public can't board the ship.
