23-year-old pregnant woman commits suicide in Thrissur, alleges harassment by husband

THRISSUR: A 23-year-old pregnant woman committed suicide in Irinjalakuda following her husband’s harassment. The dead has been identified as Faseela. Her last message to her mother alleging harassment by her husband is out. She had cited this as the reason for taking the drastic step. The Irinjalakuda police have taken her husband Noufal (29) into custody.

Her WhatsApp message to her mother said that he kicked her on her stomach and constantly beats her. Faseela in her message said that her mother-in-law abuses her and said that they would kill her. After filing a complaint with the police soon after she committed suicide, Noufal’s family hurled abuses at them. It has been only a year and nine months since her marriage. The couple has a child. Her family knew about her second pregnancy only when her mother got the message.

Faseela is the daughter of Abdul Rasheed of Kottaparambil in Kodungallur and Zakkeena. Her body will be handed over to her relatives after postmortem. Nine months old Muhammed Seyyan is her son.
