KANNUR: The Supreme Court has nullified the re-appointment of Dr Gopinath Ravindran as the Vice Chancellor of Kannur University. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud led the bench that delivered this verdict overturning the earlier decision of the High Court which the Supreme Court deemed improper.

'I did not ask for reassignment. He was in tenure for seven years. I was able to do many things for the university. Tomorrow I will join Jamia Millia as Permanent Professor. No review will be given. I have not read the verdict.'- he said. Gopinath Ravindran stated that there was no external interference in the appointment of Priya Varghese.

Responding to the verdict, Higher Education Minister R Bindu expressed acceptance of the Supreme Court's decision. However, she stated that she is yet to receive the detailed court verdict and will provide a comprehensive response later.
