THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan issued an advisory to the public regarding amoebic encephalitis. The proposal was made in a high-level meeting convened by the Chief Minister in the wake of concerns related to the disease. Chief Minister said that swimming pools should be chlorinated and people should not take baths in unclean water bodies.
This disease is mostly seen in children. Therefore, children should be careful when entering water bodies. Using swimming nose clips can help prevent the disease. Everyone should take care to keep the water bodies clean, the Chief Minister added.
Besides the Health Minister, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department, Director of Health Department and Director of Virology Institute also participated in the meeting. The current situation was explained in the meeting by the director of the health department and discussions were held on what steps could be taken based on this.
