THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The lone fight by Dr Harris Chirakkal to end the ineptness of authorities in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital has yielded results. It is reported that the necessary equipment required for surgery was delivered to the hospital today. With this, the postponed surgeries have resumed at the hospital. The equipment arrived by air from Hyderabad this morning.

Dr. Harris's outspoken criticism of the suffering faced by patients in Thiruvananthapuram MCH paved the way for a surgical strike in the hospital. The popular doctor's protest came after surgeries were repeatedly halted at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital due to a lack of equipment. "Sack me, I'm fed up with this service," he wrote on Facebook.

In his Facebook post, Dr Harris said that it was the patients who were paying for the equipment, not to delay the surgeries.

"I'm tired of pleading with politicians and officials. My shoes are torn by repeatedly walking the steps of offices to request officials to end the quandary. All my efforts have gone in vain. I can't deal with bureaucracy, and I've had to postpone surgeries because I don't have the equipment." This was the doctor’s Facebook post against the government that went viral.
