Driver dies after lorry carrying liquor collides with car, bottles scatter on road

KOZHIKODE: A driver died after a lorry carrying liquor hit a car coming from the opposite direction. The lorry was going to Ernakulam from Mysore with beer bottles when it hit the car. The lorry driver, Krishnan of Wayanad, was taken to a nearby hospital by the fire force team, but his life could not be saved. He was taken out from the lorry after a great effort.

The lorry had 200 cases of beer bottles. All of them fell onto the road. Only the driver was in the lorry. No one in the car was injured. The beer bottles are lying broken on the busy road. Excise officials will take stock of the bottles. The place is being guarded by the police.

There was also an accident on the Koopara-Kakkadampoyil road in the district. A mini tourist bus that was coming with many passengers crashed into a wall. The mini bus, which was carrying people from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, met with an accident on the Peedikappara-Kottayam bend. Initial information is that the brakes failed. The injured were admitted to a nearby private hospital.
