KOCHI: Six people were taken into custody during a lightning raid conducted by the police in two famous hotels in Kochi. Police searched two prominent hotels in Maradu Statue junction after getting a tip-off about local gangsters presence as part of a film company launching ceremony. The statement given by the organizers said that it was a launching party of a film company.

According to the police, six people from Thiruvananthapuram have been detained under suspicious circumstances. These gangs are doubted to be centred around Kaliyikkavila in the capital city. Deadly weapons including guns have also been seized from them. The police confirmed that three of the arrested persons were criminals. The main organizer of the event was Ashley, a native of Thiruvananthapuram.

Receiving a tip-off about the police inspection, Ashley fled the place and is still at large. The police will investigate more about Ashley’s purpose for the Kochi visit and the event organization. The police informed that the details including the conditions under which the investigation was conducted can only be revealed officially after interrogating the accused. Police recovered a gun, pepper spray and a knife from a car parked at the hotel.

Those in custody dismissed any conspiracy and said that the meeting was resorted to the launching of a movie production company.
