Eight districts on yellow alert tomorrow, next few days vital, alert issued to coastal people

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a possibility of isolated heavy rain in various places in Kerala for the next five days. As part of this, a yellow alert has been sounded in various districts. Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are on yellow alert today. A yellow alert has been issued in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow and on Monday and Tuesday, in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Heavy rain means a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is received in 24 hours.

Meantime, a special alert has also been issued for fishermen. The IMD has informed that there is no obstacle to fishing along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts today.

Strong winds reaching 45 to 55 kmph and at times reaching 65 kmph are likely over the central-west Arabian Sea and adjoining central-east Arabian Sea, northern parts of southwest Arabian Sea and southern parts of northwest Arabian Sea today.

Strong winds reaching 40 to 50 kmph and at times reaching 60 kmph and bad weather are likely over the central-east-southeast-southwest Arabian Sea, central-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal, southern parts of southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal.

The warning states that strong winds gusting up to 45 to 55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph, are likely to prevail over the central-west Arabian Sea, adjoining central-east Arabian Sea and northern parts of the southwestern Arabian Sea tomorrow.
