THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KSRTC bus travel information will be henceforth available live through the mobile app 'Chalo', said Minister K B Ganesh Kumar on Tuesday. Information, including the arrival time at the stop and the number of vacant seats, can be obtained through the app. Passengers will be able to buy a ticket before boarding the bus. The QR code on the app should be shown to the conductor.

Smart travel cards can also be charged through the app. Passengers can purchase the card by paying a certain amount. Convenient changes will be made to the app to enhance its accessibility for users with visual impairments.

If bus travel information goes online, the enquiry counters will be shut down. Instead, officials will be given mobile phones. Complaints can be reported to this number. The mobile should be operational 24 hours a day. Bus scheduling will be shifted to AI-based software. The service with poor passenger traffic will be stopped soon.

Student concessions and travel passes, including for the differently-abled, will be transferred to the card. Students will not need to come to the depot to renew their cards. They can renew their cards by paying the card amount on the bus. Student cards will be distributed within 20 days.
