KOCHI: Many film units don’t have an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) despite the high court order, said Women’s Commission chief P Sathydevi. A male was appointed as the head of ICC in one location. The ICC exists only in name in many places. Permission for film production should be given only if there is a proper ICC. When the law says women should head, what is the use of forming the ICC differently, asked Sathydevi.
Sathydevi had earlier criticized that women's safety is being questioned in a big way in the state. She was reacting to the gangrape of a 19-year-old model in a car in Kochi. DJ parties are turning venues for all sorts of shameful acts. Men and women sit together and drink in parties and then indulge in wrong acts. Police intervention is required. The police should ensure safety in the area where women work. She also said that it is not possible for women to travel in crowded cities at night.
