'Faced brutal physical and mental torture'; Family alleges mystery in Kozhikode woman's death

KOZHIKODE: The Family alleged foul play in the death of a woman at her in-laws’ house in Poonoor, Kozhikode. Jisna, a 24-year-old native of Kelakam, Kannur, was found dead on Tuesday night. Her family alleged mental and physical torture from husband Sreejith and in-laws to be the reason for the death.

Jisna and Sreejith were married three years ago. They have a two-year-old child. Jisna's family had helped Sreejith financially. However, Sreejith did not return the money that he had promised to return within five months. Jisna's relatives say that there were frequent arguments in Sreejith's house over this matter. Her brother said that Sreejith had beaten Jisna and mentally tortured her.

As per complaints, Sreejith bothered not to call Jisna’s family even after the death. They are still not allowing Jisna’s family to meet the child. Jisna's family has filed a complaint with the Balussery police demanding a detailed investigation into the death.
