Tusker tramples aged man to death in Athirappilly

THRISSUR: An aged man was trampled to death in Athirappilly. The dead is Subran (75) of Thaikoodan in Athirappilly. Subran had gone to the junction to have tea. Meanwhile, he came in the middle of a herd of wild elephants.


A trunkless wild elephant cub in Athirappilly was in news earlier. The wild elephant that was with it attacked Subran. Locals said there were seven wild elephants in this group. The nuisance of wild elephants has been severe in the area for the past few days.


Subran, who was seriously injured after being trampled by the elephant, was immediately rushed to the hospital in a vehicle, but his life could not be saved. The elephant attack happened today in Kodassery panchayat.


The other day, a forest department official who had gone to Palakkad to take a tiger census was trampled to death by a wild elephant. The wild elephant attacked Beat Assistant Kalimuthu and his companion. Although the companion escaped, Kalimuthu lost his life. A three-member team consisting of Puthur beat forest officer R Kannan and forest watcher Achuthan had gone to the Mulli forest area for a tiger census. The tragic incident happened during this time.
