THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The statement of ADGP M R Ajith Kumar in the disproportionate assets case has surfaced. His statement to the vigilance is that the fake documents were concocted against him from within the police and that there is a conspiracy.

The allegations against him are not for complying with former MLA P V Anvar. Spoke to Anvar on the directions of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's office. The chief minister's office demanded to clarify doubts. The house is being built on the land given by his father-in-law. It is reported that Ajith Kumar's statement also says that he did not make a profit by selling the flat.

The report submitted by the vigilance in the disproportionate assets case giving a clean chit to Ajith Kumar, was rejected by the special vigilance court. Even though the head of the vigilance department is the chief minister, cannot interfere in the investigation at any stage. An honest officer should investigate. The court pointed that the truth will come out only if the investigation is done in the right direction.

The court also criticized the vigilance's statement that the chief minister accepted the clean chit report. It also asked whether the administration would have accepted it if the investigation report had been different. It is the legal system and the law that convicts and acquits a person. The head of the administration or politicians cannot interfere in it. Vigilance Court Judge M Manoj had also clarified that such an investigation will not be free and fair.

Evidence is there, says court
There is mystery in Ajith Kumar buying the flat from his brother-in-law for Rs 65 lakh. His brother-in-law bought the flat for Rs 34 lakh and sold it to the ADGP after 22 days.
It was not investigated who paid for his brother-in-law.

It was not investigated despite having evidence that could have been imposed under the Benami Prohibition Act and the Black Money Prohibition Act.

The investigation was completed by believing only Ajith Kumar. The vigilance did not bother to investigate the truth.

The income and expenditure of Ajith and his family members were not checked. The land details provided to the government every year were also not checked.

The vigilance did not show enthusiasm to listen to the complainant in taking the statements of the accused and those who supported him.

This is not a fair investigation. The report cannot be accepted as the proceedings are not legal.

The prosecution pointed that the complainant did not provide documents to prove the allegations.

The court responded that the investigating officer did not give him an opportunity to do so.

Land property worth Rs 8 crore
The report says that Ajith and his wife have 80.21 cents of land worth more than Rs 8 crore in six properties in Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. The construction cost of the house in Kowdiar is Rs 3.58 crore. There is a loan of Rs 1.5 crore in SBI.
