Family levels allegation against clerk for boy’s suicide in Kattakada

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The family of Benson Abraham, who was found hanging in his school, came forward levelling allegations against the clerk. The boy’s uncle said when Benson went to get his project sealed, the clerk insulted him.

'It wouldn’t be fair to say that he died. Should say that he was killed. A clerk in this school behaved in an irresponsible manner yesterday. That pushed my child to take the extreme step.

He was to submit the record yesterday. Before submitting the record, the student has to get the seal of the school. We didn’t have all this when we were studying. The teacher sent the children to the office to get it sealed.

When asked the clerk to seal it, he insulted the children and ignored them. When Benson asked Sir, can I take the seal, he immediately asked the boy is this your father’s. I have difficulty in saying this publicly. There is a fire burning inside us, so telling this. Benson told his mother, who is my sister. Not only the clerk but also many teachers of this school have harassed him. We parents pacify him. This is the trophy we got for that,’' said Benson’s uncle.

The boy dead is Benson Abraham of Erumakuzhi in Kuttichal. He is a student of Vocational Higher Secondary School in Kuttichal. Benson Abraham left home at 6 pm yesterday. Benson regularly goes to the gym. The family thought that he would be there. When he did not return home late at night, his parents filed a complaint with the police.

Although he was searched at the homes of relatives and friends, Benson could not be found. Feeling suspicious, his relatives reached the school at 6 am and then found him hanging. He was found hanging near the toilet. Meantime, the principal was criticised for not reaching the spot till now.
