KOCHI: The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) has released a toll-free number as part of the safety of women in the film industry. Women in the film industry can file complaints by contacting the number. 24 hours service will be available from today. The number to be contacted is 8590599946.
After the release of the HEMA Committee report, all unions of FEFKA had met in the first week of this month. A demand was raised in the meeting that there should be a toll-free number for those working in the cinema to report complaints. FEFKA announced that the number will start functioning by noon today. The complaints will be handled by women themselves. Legal action will be taken in serious complaints. The number will be displayed at all shooting locations.
FEFKA had earlier stated that the names of actors involved in sexual harassments and mentioned in the Hema committee report should come out. FEFKA also welcomed the government's appointment of a special investigation team to report sexual crimes in cinema and find and punish the perpetrators through proper investigation. The organization informed that the core committee of women members of FEFKA will be tasked with making the survivors willing to file complaints and take legal action and ensure all possible legal assistance to them.
