KOZHIKODE: The two days of grinding work yielded results finally as the fire-stricken cargo vessel MV Wan Hai 503 was brought under control near the Kerala coast. It is reported that a rope was tied to the ship and connected to a tugboat. Efforts are being made to tow the ship further away using the tug. The fire at the front of the ship has been extinguished. Efforts are ongoing to extinguish the fire at other parts of the vessel.

Union Minister George Kurian announced that the Coast Guard and the Union Ministry of Shipping have intervened in the incident. The cargo of the ship is being inspected. The union minister admitted that it was unthinkable to get near the vicinity of the burning ship and also said that the union ministry would consider the suggestions put forward by the state government.
