Fisherman dies after boat overturns in Maryanad, 20-year-old loses life after falling into river in Idukki

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A fisherman died after his boat overturned at Maryanad in Thiruvananthapuram. The dead is Aloysius (45) of Arthi in Maryanad.


The boat that went for fishing overturned Wednesday morning. The boat capsized just a short distance from the shore. The others who were with him swam to safety but Aloysius became weak. He was then rushed to the medical college hospital but his life could not be saved. Maryanad is about five kilometers away from Muthalapozhi. The initial conclusion is that strong waves and wind caused the accident.


Meanwhile, a youth fell into a river and died in Idukki. The incident happened at midnight at Mankulam in Idukki. The dead is Saneesh (20) of Thalungandamkudi. He could not identify the road due to heavy rain and this led to the accident. He slipped and fell into the river.


A woman died after a tree fell on her car in the heavy rain last night. The incident happened at Vazhayila Aramkallu in Thiruvananthapuram. The dead is Molly (42), a native of Tholikodu, who was traveling in the car. The woman's husband sustained injuries which are not serious. A big banyan tree fell on top of the car completely damaging the vehicle.


The woman's husband managed to get out as soon as the tree fell. However, Molly couldn't. Molly was taken out after breaking open the car. She was immediately rushed to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, but her life could not be saved.
