KOCHI: Minister P Rajeev said that the state government has decided to file an appeal against the trial court verdict in the actress assault case. He added that he had discussed the matter with the Chief Minister and that the government stands firmly with the survivor.

The verdict in the case, in which an actress was assaulted and filmed in a compromising manner, came today after eight years. The court found accused 1 to 6 guilty and confirmed all charges against them. The judgment was delivered by Ernakulam Principal Sessions Judge Honey M. Varghese.

However, the court acquitted actor Dileep, saying the prosecution failed to prove the conspiracy charges against him and that there was not enough evidence to establish his involvement.
