Govindachamy's jailbreak: Deputy Prison Officer suspended over media interview

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Jail DIG suspended the jail deputy prison officer for allowing an interview to the media regarding convict Govindachamy's jailbreak. Abdul Sathar, the deputy prison officer of Kottarakkara sub-jail, was suspended by the jail DIG.

Abdul Sathar was suspended following the investigation report of the jail department, which deemed that his response to the media regarding the jailbreak brought embarrassment to the police force and even affected the morale of officers on duty.

Abdul Sathar had earlier responded to the media on his experiences working at Kannur Central Jail.
