Govt intervened in right way, should ensure immediate compensation to families of dead, says CM

KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that he is joining in the grief of the families of Kuwait fire victims. He said the Centre should intervene to offer them the deserved compensation.

‘I heard this news with shock. The people of Kerala are saddened by this great tragedy. The central government had taken the necessary steps soon after the tragedy. The chief minister said the Kerala government also intervened immediately.

The cabinet met yesterday and took further steps. In the meanwhile, there was an incorrect approach and not going into that controversy now. It is not the time to discuss it. The government had decided to send Minister Veena George to Kuwait. The minister had reached the airport but returned as she did not get the political clearance. Let’s not talk about it. Intervention is needed to help the family of the dead.

It is an irreparable loss for the families who wait with great anticipation for the return of their beloved ones. Kuwait had taken effective and strong action immediately after the disaster. It is expected that further steps of the Kuwaiti government will be flawless. The central government had also intervened in the incident in a proper manner.
