Govt to go forward with film conclave in Kochi for five days from Nov 3 onwards

KOCHI: The government will go forward with the conclave announced to solve the problems in the film industry. A film policymaking conclave will be held in Kochi. Director Shaji N Karun is in charge of the event which will be held for five days from November 3. Nearly 350 delegates including foreign delegates and experts from various fields will take part in the programme.

A police team has been entrusted to find out about harassment in the film industry. A seven-member police team consisting of six IPS officers and one SP are there in the team.
Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner IG Sparjan Kumar is the head of the team comprising of four women IPS officers. Crime Branch ADGP H Venkitesh will monitor everything.

AMMA general secretary Siddique and Film Academy Chairman Ranjith had resigned yesterday morning in the wake of actresses’ accusations. Minister Saji Cherian sought the resignation of Ranjith as per the directive of the chief minister. Ranjith tendered the resignation via email. Siddique tendered the resignation to AMMA president Mohanlal.

The government, accused of hoarding the Hema Committee report for four and a half years, also announced an investigation. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had earlier discussed the issue with DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib.

Director General of Prosecution T A Shaji gave legal advice that action can be taken based on the revelations.

The legal advice was that there is no requirement to get a complaint. Can examine the allegation. If it is POCSO, then legal action can be initiated. The government can take further action after noticing the matters that have come to public attention.
