Govt with Midhun's family; education minister to lay foundation stone of new house

KOLLAM: A new house is being built for the family of eighth class student Midhun, who died after electrocuted at Thevalakkara School. The house is being constructed under the leadership of Scout and Guides. Education Minister V Sivankutty will lay the foundation stone of the house titled 'Mithunte Veedu, Enteyum'. The new house is being built on the site of his old house. Midhun's family has been shifted to a rented house. The house is expected to finish in five months. Scouts and Guides representatives informed that this is being done as part of being with Midhun's family.


A decision was taken to grant an amount of Rs 10 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to the boy's family. KSEB had earlier given Rs 5 lakh. Sivankutty had announced emergency assistance of Rs 3 lakh from the account of the general education department. The Thevalakkara School Management had also handed over Rs 10 lakh to his family.

Midhun died after electrocuted from Thevalakkara Boys High School on the morning of July 17. The shock of the unexpected death of the boy, who was the hope of the house is not small. The minister of education announced that Bharat Scouts and Guides would build a house for the boy’s family.
