NEYYATTINKARA: Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar stated that Guru Puja is an integral part of Indian culture and that those who oppose it are lacking cultural understanding. He was inaugurating a public meeting held in connection with the Suvarna Jayanti celebrations of Balagokulam South Kerala, at the Malottu Sree Bhadra Convention Centre in Balaramapuram.
He remarked that ideas critical of Guru Puja are gaining ground in Kerala and that incidents where it was held in some schools became controversial. The values imparted to children during their early years help shape them into responsible citizens, the Governor said, adding that Balagokulam is a response to the cultural deterioration seen in the state.
The meeting was presided over by Dr. N. Unnikrishnan, President of Balagokulam South Kerala. General Secretary Biju B.S., Reception Committee Chairman Dr. Ravindran, State Secretary V. Harikumar, State General Secretary K.N. Harikumar, and Reception Committee General Convenor R.G. Arundeve also spoke. The Governor released the Suvarna Jayanti logo and the Gokulabharati publication.
