guruvayur-

THRISSUR: Guruvayur Devaswom-Municipality-Police joint intervention brought the rush at Guruvayur temple under control despite 232 marriages. Even though 15 of the booked groups did not arrive, the marriage crowd started at the mandapams from 5 am. 219 marriages took place in front of the temple till 'ucha pooja' at 12 pm. The rest took place after the 'ucha puja'. The arrangement made by Devaswom to control the crowd reduced the rush in the temple premises.

In addition to the three permanent wedding mandapams in the temple courtyard, the Devaswom also prepared two temporary mandapams. The marriage in all the five mandapams followed the schedule. The wedding parties arriving at the temporary pandal on the south side of the Melpatthur auditorium were given tokens from there and were admitted to the Melpatthur auditorium as per the order. From the auditorium, groups were escorted to the wedding halls according to the muhurta time. A maximum of 26 people in the group, including the bride and groom and photographers, was also arranged.

The devotees who come to visit the temple were also restricted. They were not allowed near the wedding mandapams. Temple Deputy Administrator P Manoj Kumar led the arrangements. Apart from Devaswom security personnel, a police team led by Temple Police SI Giri also reached the spot.

Police have also been deployed at all the junctions. So there was no regular traffic jam yesterday due to the wedding rush. Apart from Devaswom and Municipal parking grounds, Sri Krishna School ground, Municipal Indira Gandhi Town Hall premises and the ground of Multi Level Parking Plaza were also opened for parking. The marriage registration section started functioning in the municipality from 8.30 am. More personnel have been deployed for duty. More seating and drinking water facilities were provided for those coming for marriage registration.
