
KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has ordered police protection for the book launch function of former district committee member V Kunhikrishnan, who was expelled from the CPM. Kunhikrishnan had filed a plea seeking protection for the function to be held on February 4. The court also sent notices to the opposing parties in the plea, Kannur district secretary K K Ragesh, Payyannur MLA Madhusoodanan, and Payyannur area secretary P Santhosh.
After his expulsion from the CPM for his revelation in connection with the martyrs fund scam, activists had staged protests in front of his house. They shouted slogans and burst crackers. The bike of one who demonstrated in favor of Kunhikrishnan was burned. Kunhikrishnan approached the high court following constant threat messages. Meantime, Kunhikrishnan clarified that he sought protection only for the book launch function.
The book is titled ‘Nethruthathe Anikal Thiruthanam’. The book having 96 pages with 16 chapters severely criticizes the CPM leaders. The book says that CPM leaders have become beneficiaries of crony capitalism. The leadership shamelessly uses organizational principles to protect criminals. The book also says that Payyannur MLA T I Madhusoodanan has the style of a bourgeois political leader.
