THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains were received in various districts of the state Monday morning. There is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam with gusty winds of up to 50 kmph in the next three hours, moderate rains at isolated places with gusty winds of up to 50 kmph in Alappuzha.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki are likely to experience light rain at isolated places and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph.There is heavy rain in the capital city as well.
Meantime, an alert has been issued along the coasts of Kannur and Kasaragod today. The National Oceanographic Research Center has informed that there is a possibility of high waves and the sea becoming more turbulent. The National Oceanographic Research Center has warned that there is a possibility of Kallakadal phenomenon and a high wave of 2.3 to 3.2 meters on the Kerala coast on 23.07.2024 till 11.30 pm.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has informed that there is a possibility of Kallakadal phenomenon and high waves of 2.1 to 2.7 meters along Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 pm on 23.07.2024. Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas should be extra cautious.
