Heavy rain in state; holiday for educational institutions in three districts, no change in university exams

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains are lashing Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Alappuzha. The water level has risen in Meenachil river in Kottayam. In wake of continuous heavy rains, the collectors have declared a holiday for the educational institutions of three districts.

The district collector has informed that the educational institutions in three taluks of Kottayam will remain closed today. Educational institutions in Kottayam, Changanassery and Vaikom taluks have been declared holiday today following water clogging. There is no change in the university exams, informed the collector.

The district collector has declared holiday for all educational institutions in Kuttanad taluk of Alappuzha. All educational institutions in Pathanamthitta district will remain closed today. The district collector informed that there is no change in the university exams.

Meantime, 43 families in Kottayam have been shifted to a relief camp. More shutters of Kakki Ananthode Dam have been raised due to high water level. Water level has risen in Kuttanad and Upper Kuttanad.
