Heavy rain to continue in state; Low pressure strengthens over Bay of Bengal, chances to intensify to depression in forty-eight hours

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain will continue in the state. Low pressure has strengthened over Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Center has informed that there is a possibility of intensifying to a severe depression in the next 48 hours. It has been predicted that North Kerala will receive more rain. Fishing off the coast of Kerala has been banned.


Yellow alert has been issued in Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are on yellow alert the day after tomorrow.

The authorities have warned that there is a possibility of land and mudslides in the areas that have received heavy rains in the past few days. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm rain is likely to obtain in 24 hours.
