THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department has predicted rain with thunder and lightning in Kerala for the next three days. A low-pressure area has also formed from the Kerala coast to the North Karnataka coast. As a result, it is reported that there will be widespread rainfall in Kerala for the next seven days.
A yellow alert has been announced in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts for Sunday. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts for Monday. Rainfall between 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours falls under the heavy rains category.
In the next three hours, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts are likely to experience isolated rain with thunder and lightning and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph. IMD also predicted heavy rain in the state from today till September 10. Meanwhile, fishing is not restricted in Kerala - Karnataka - Lakshadweep coasts.
