THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With chances of heavy rainfall looming in Kerala, a yellow alert was issued to various districts in the state. Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts are under alert on Tuesday.

Heavy rain is defined as a rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. In the next three hours, there is a possibility of isolated rain and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
There is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph in isolated places in Kannur and Kasaragod districts. A low-pressure area is located over the coastal Gangetic plain of West Bengal. A cyclonic circulation is located over south Rajasthan and north Gujarat.
