Hoisting national flag upside down is serious lapse, attitude of BJP leaders raises doubts: INL

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The INL has demanded an inquiry into whether there was any deliberate motive behind the hoisting of the national flag upside down during the Republic Day celebrations attended by Kasargod Minister Ahmed Devarkovil. INL's state general secretary Kasim Irikkur said all aspects of the incident should be investigated and action be taken against those responsible.

"Hoisting the flag upside down is a serious lapse. This would not have happened if regular rehearsals had taken place. The attitude of the BJP leaders against the minister raises some doubts. It is welcome that the ADM has ordered an inquiry into the incident as directed by the Minister. Such incidents can be avoided only if strict action is taken against those responsible for setting up and overseeing the flag on the flagpole", Kasim Irikkur said in a statement.
