KOZHIKODE: The bizarre pastime of a few delinquents to pelt stones at trains continues with impunity. Another trend that caught headlines in recent times was youngsters on the sidelines of tracks using sticks to hit and snatch away mobile phones of passengers standing near the door. Many such videos have even gone viral on social media. Now a youngster, who was standing on the platform, suffered injuries on his face immediately after a train passed through the route.

The incident took place on the 19th of this month at 5 pm. Adithyan, a native of Perambra, was injured. According to RPF, it was a plastic bottle thrown from the fast-moving train to the platform that smashed on Adithyan’s face, causing injuries. To identify the coach and the passenger responsible is an onerous task. It could have been made easier if fellow passengers cared to inform. The passenger, though tactless in his conduct, might have thrown the bottle unintentionally.

Stone pelting has been reported on Vande Bharat three times this year. Passengers were injured in stone pelting on trains near Uppala station on April 17 and in Kalamassery on September 25. The RPF also arrested two Plus students who pelted stones in Kalamassery.
