KARUKACHAL: The alleged accident death of a young woman in Kottayam is suspected to be a murder. The vehicle that hit her did not stop. The victim was identified as Neethu Krishnan (36) of Koothrapally Puthuparambil, a tenant living in Poovanpara.

The accident occurred on the Poovanppara road in Vettikavungal while Neethu was going from her home to Karukachal around 9 am on Tuesday. Neethu, who was unconscious after being hit by the car, was rushed to a private hospital in Karukachal by locals, but her life could not be saved. Residents revealed that they saw an Innova car that hit her driving away from the scene towards Mallappally.

Karukachal police have launched an investigation into this incident. The police took a Kanjirappally native into custody in connection with the incident.

Neethu, an employee of a private firm in Changanassery, was married to a Kanjirappally native. The two are now separated. The accident happened just as the divorce case was about to reach the court.

As per police investigation, it was a rented vehicle that hit Neethu to death. Police are planning to thoroughly question Neethu’s husband. The Karukachal SHO is leading the investigation. Neethu leaves behind her daughters Lakshminanda and Devananda.
