Thousands offer bali to ancestors, heavy rush despite heavy rain

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bali tharpanam on the occasion of Karkidaka Vavu is progressing in the state. A huge rush is being witnessed in all districts. Devotees thronged temples early morning to offer bali. Bali tharpanam is being held in Thiruvallam Sree Parasurama Temple, Papanasam in Varkala, Kovalam, Aluva Manappuram, Thirunelli Papanasini, Thiruvilwamala, Vilwadrinatha Temple, Parassinikadavu Sri Muthappan Temple etc.

Bali for ancestors started in Aluva Manappuram at 2.30 am. Considering the rush of devotees, KSRTC is running additional services at many places. One can offer bali till 12 noon. Since it is raining in many places in the state, security arrangements have also been made at the Bali Tharpana temples. Police, fire force and divers have prepared a security cordon for the devotees.

A large crowd is seen at Aluva Manappuram. Melshanthi Mullappally Sankaran Namboothiri is leading the rituals. 61 balitharas have been arranged this time. 500 people can pray at the nadapanthal at a time. The rituals are being held under tight security this time too.
