MALAPPURAM: The cause of death of a wild elephant found in a septic tank in Moothedam was reportedly a gunshot wound. A gunshot wound was found in the elephant's body during the postmortem. The elephant's body was found in a pit in a private farm in Cholamunda. The elephant fell into a septic tank that the landowner had used to build a toilet for migrant workers of the farm.
The gunshot wound found in the elephant's body will be sent for ballistic testing. The full postmortem report is yet to be released. This elephant with a long, curved tusk that used to frequently be in these places is named 'Kaserakomban' by the locals. It is reported that Kaserakomban is a wild elephant that does not cause much harm to the locals. It was initially thought that the cause of death was cardiac arrest.
