THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A police official was caught drunk while on duty for the state Governor. Civil Police Officer CPO Sarath of the AR camp was caught drunk while on duty. Sarath was assigned to rifle duty to ensure a smooth passage for the Governor, who was on his way towards the Raj Bhavan after arriving in the capital city by Vande Bharat train on Sunday night.

When he got into a vehicle with other officers for rifle duty, suspicions arose about Sarath's behaviour. The officers who were with him immediately informed their superiors. Sarath was then taken to Fort Hospital for a medical examination. The results confirmed that he was drunk at the time of duty.

Sarath was immediately removed from duty and was replaced by another official. The superiors have recommended departmental action against Sarath. With this, there is a high possibility that the official will soon face suspension.
