THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala police rebutted Governor Arif Mohammed Khan's argument in the gold smuggling controversy. The police said their official website never mentioned that the gold smuggled through airports was used for anti-national activities.

The governor earlier claimed that the official website of the Police mentioned gold smuggling money being used by banned organizations. The police said that only the statistics of seizures of gold and currency have been published with period-wise details on the website.

The explanation from the police came hours after the governor's statement. It is also noteworthy that the explanation comes amidst a worsening tussle between the Governor and Chief Minister.

Governor had come forward against the state government by pointing out the remarks made by the Chief Minister on the issue of gold smuggling to ‘The Hindu’.

“Gold smuggling is anti-national. Despite knowing about such things, why did the government refrain from informing the Raj Bhavan on the matter? It is the constitutional responsibility of the Chief Minister to put things right.” Said Governor.
