THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Single duty will be implemented phase-wise in KSRTC ordinary buses from October 1. It will be completed within three months. The final decision regarding the duty arrangement will be taken in the Board of Directors meeting on 16th. On that day, the management may also hold a discussion with the leaders of the trade unions.
The government has decided to pay the salary arrears to the KSRTC employees after accepting the conditions put forward by the government including single duty to cut costs. In the government order allotting Rs 100 crore, the conditions including duty reforms were repeated. As per the government's definition, single duty is eight hours of work in a 12-hour period. Trade unions disagree with this. Even after the discussion with the Chief Minister, TDF and BMS leaders said that they would accept only eight hours of duty a day.
