Land collapse during resort construction in Idukki; two workers die

IDUKKI: Two people died when the land collapsed during a construction in Chithirapuram. The deceased were identified as Rajeevan, a native of Shankupadi, Anachal, and Benny, a native of Bison Valley.

The accident occurred during the construction of a resort in Chithirapuram, Munnar. A protective wall was being constructed adjacent to the resort. The workers were working from below this. A mound of earth collapsed and fell on both of them while they were digging soil for the construction. The bodies were retrieved by removing the soil with a JCB. Fire force teams from Munnar and Adimali also participated in the rescue operation.
