THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: VC Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal has banned Kerala University Registrar Dr. KS Anilkumar, whom he has suspended, from entering the office. This is in a situation where he is checking files at the office. The notice states that any violation will be considered trespassing and action will be taken.
Following the notice, Dr. Anilkumar applied for long-term leave for medical reasons, but the VC rejected it. Mohanan Kunnummal also pointed out that since Anilkumar was under suspension, the leave was irrelevant. Dr. Anilkumar's leave letter stated that the Registrar's duties should be given to the Examination Controller or the Joint Director of the Karyavattom campus.
After the leave application was rejected, Dr Anil Kumar sent an email to the VC stating that the syndicate had revoked his suspension. 'It is the syndicate that should review the suspension. The High Court has also directed that the appropriate forum be examined,' Anil Kumar pointed out in the email.
Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal, who returned from Russia, took charge from Dr. Ciza Thomas yesterday. The VC had issued an order giving the charge of the Registrar to Dr. Mini Kappan. However, she could not take charge as the administrative order was not issued. Action will be taken against the officials who made lapses.
The VC instructed the engineering department to take stock of the damage caused during the SFI protest against the governor on Tuesday. Compensation will be collected from the protesters. A letter has been sent to the DGP to file a case.
