ALAPPUZHA: More details have come out regarding the incident where a man's leg was found on the track at the Alappuzha railway station on Tuesday. It is believed that the leg belonged to Edakkad native Manoharan, who died on Monday after being hit by a train in Kannur. It has been found in the investigation that his leg had been severed in the accident. The leg was found by the sanitation workers at around 9 am on Tuesday when the Ernakulam-Alappuzha MEMU train was moved from the track to the yard.

Upon finding the leg, sanitation workers immediately informed the railway police. Following this, police and forensic experts arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. Police believe the remains are of a man and that they are about three days old. Their initial assumption is that the leg may have been stuck under the train’s undercarriage when the accident happened, and later fallen onto the track. A police team from Kannur will arrive in Alappuzha today for further investigation. The remains are currently kept at Vandanam Medical College Hospital.
