Love marriage, fight over WhatsApp status, family alleges mystery on death of Meera

PALAKKAD: A family alleged mystery in the death of a woman at Puthuppariyaram Poochira. Meera (32) of C N Puram, Mattumantha Cholod, died on Wednesday. The police will question her husband Anoop and relatives in the incident today. The initial postmortem report said that she committed suicide.

Her relatives alleged that Anoop and Meera used to fight constantly and that there is mystery in her death. The police have registered a case of unnatural death according to the statement of her mother. They got married a year ago after being in a relationship. This is the second marriage of both.

It was their wedding anniversary recently. Police said the two had a fight over her husband not posting a status on WhatsApp. Meera, who fought with her husband, had gone to her own house on Tuesday. However, Anoop went and brought her back to his house in Puthuppariyaram at around 11 pm that night. On Wednesday morning, around 6 am, Meera was found hanging from the ceiling of the work area near the kitchen using her shawl. She was immediately taken to the hospital, but was confirmed dead.

Only Anoop and his mother were at home at the time of the incident. The police informed her family about the death. The postmortem was completed at the district hospital and the body was handed over to her relatives. Anoop is a food delivery youth.

SHO K Harish said no written complaint has been received so far alleging domestic violence. A suicide note believed to be that of Meera’s was recovered from the house. The investigation started as per the statement of her mother seeking a clarity on the death of her daughter. Meera is daughter
